Reaching G and H
Your left index finger covers both F and G; your right index finger covers J and H. Reach sideways for G or H, press, and slide straight back to the bump on F or J. The other fingers stay on their home keys while you reach.
Typing words, not letters
Once you can type single letters without looking, start thinking in short words. Typing "glad" as one smooth movement instead of four separate letters is where speed really comes from. Read each word before you type it, then let your fingers do the rest. Next up: the top row.
How this lesson works
Type each line exactly as shown. The next key lights up on the keyboard and the line below the text tells you which finger to use. A wrong key is counted as a mistake and the letter turns red, but you stay on it until you press the right key, so you always finish with correct muscle memory. Finish with 97% accuracy or better for three stars. Your best result is saved in this browser.

Frequently asked questions
My hands keep drifting. What can I do?
After each word, check that your index fingers are on the bumps of F and J. With practice this becomes automatic.
Why does the lesson use the semicolon?
The semicolon is the home key of the right little finger. Typing it now keeps that finger active and in place.
What accuracy should I aim for?
Aim for 95% or better before moving on. Speed will come later on its own.
