Typing Spanish accents
- Spanish keyboard: press the accent key (´) and then the vowel; Ñ has its own key.
- US International layout (Windows): type ' then a vowel for á, é, í, ó, ú, and ~ then n for ñ.
- Mac: press Option+E then the vowel for an accent, and Option+N then n for ñ.
- No accents? Turn on "Ignore accents" and plain letters count as correct.
Your score in Spanish vs. English
Spanish words are a little longer on average than English words, and accents take extra keystrokes, so most bilingual typists score slightly lower in Spanish. Compare your Spanish result with the English 1-minute test to see the difference.
How your score is calculated
Every five correctly typed characters, including spaces, count as one word. Your WPM is the number of those words divided by the test length in minutes, so mistyped words do not count. Accuracy is the share of keys you pressed correctly. Read more about what your number means in our guide to the average typing speed.
