A real challenge

Common-word tests can be learned: after a few hundred tests your fingers know "the", "and" and "would" by heart. This test uses long and commonly misspelled words, plus punctuation and numbers, so your score reflects how well you handle unfamiliar text. If you can type 60+ WPM here, you are a genuinely fast typist.

Typing hard words

How your score is calculated

Every five correctly typed characters, including spaces, count as one word. Your WPM is the number of those words divided by the test length in minutes, so mistyped words do not count. Accuracy is the share of keys you pressed correctly. Read more about what your number means in our guide to the average typing speed.
