Where the marks live

Punctuation and your score

In most typing tests a word only counts if its punctuation is exactly right, so a missing comma costs a whole word. Practice the common combinations — apostrophes in contractions and quotes around speech — until they feel automatic. Then test yourself on the advanced typing test with punctuation turned on.

How this lesson works

Type each line exactly as shown. The next key lights up on the keyboard and the line below the text tells you which finger to use. A wrong key is counted as a mistake and the letter turns red, but you stay on it until you press the right key, so you always finish with correct muscle memory. Finish with 97% accuracy or better for three stars. Your best result is saved in this browser.
